Is it safe to run an overclocked PC 24/7 on full load without causing damage? I'm running an i5-2500k at 4.5ghz with a GTX580 and my maximum temps are 69c on the CPU and 73c on the GPU.
I've started SETI@Home after a long break (joined team OCUK of course!) which is running my CPU and GPU at 100% load all the time. I'd like to leave SETI running constantly however am worried it may shorten the life of my components.
The CPU is watercooled with the Corsair H60 and the GTX580 has stock cooling. I can bump up the GPU fan speed to 70% which reduces maximum temps to around 60c, although any more than 70% is just too noisy.
Is this a bad idea? Do I need to run SETI in moderation?
Should I be dropping my overclock and improving cooling on the GPU or am I worrying about nothing?
