Safe temps for GTX470?

With the default fan profile average GTX470 will hit low to mid 80s in more intensive games and benchmarks, shouldn't get above 80C tho in most games but they are designed to run those kinda temps.

That's fine. Was that when gaming? Give it a quick blast with furmark for around 15 minutes and see what it gets to. Mine was getting upto 87ºC before I installed the Gelid Icy Vision. Also was that a custom fan profile or the default fan settings?

My 470 hits around 83 deg C maxed out (Furmark and BBFC2 are good for this) on 70% fan. I made the mistake of getting a non-reference board so I can't stick a better cooler on it.

Its on the default profile at the moment, the temps were whilst benching. Havent had chance to play anytrhing else yet :p

Mine's been approaching 100C over the last couple or few months as a result of the weather and my room being particularly susceptible to heating up. Of course, an Antec 300 with shoddy cable management isn't exactly going to help a lot in keeping temps down either. In the winter, though, I get pretty much the same temps as people are posting here (80-85C).

NVIDIA say the maximum temperature for a GTX 470 is 105C on their website, so if you're getting much lower than that, you'll be fine.

My two will hit 80c ono on the stock fan profile. But use afterburner to set a custom profile, keeps them at 67c ono.

wow that must sound like a jet engine in your bedroom to keep them that cool lol

before my current card i had a Palit twin orange fan one which are slightly better than stock cooling, to keep it even in the high 70's sounded like my mrs was hoovering next to me ;)

Fan is at about 65% at 65c, but i game with noise cancelling headphones on, they will block out a jet engine, cards are clocked at 750/1500/1674.
