i've just started overclocking my XFX 5850HD the stock clocks are 725 core and 1000 memory i've got it running @ 750 using AMD fusion (only because it's already installed :) ) and the highest temp i got on an hour long run through the 2nd chapter of crysis was 73'c it's running on the stock cooler at the mo but plan on getting this next week but want to see how far i can push with the stock non-reference cooler i'm not worried about the ram right now as it hasn't got any ram sinks fitted

If i remember correctly GPU-z reported the highest fan speed was 20% 2d going upto 30% when gaming, i'm running the latest Catalyst's 10.6 if it helps, i'm glad i asked now i thought 73'c was quite cool, another factor in is my room is like an oven (around 30'c) but then so is the rest of my house :) i think i might wait until i have the new cooler before any more overclocking or get air con lol

it would still be handy to know what is safe temp wise this is my first ATI card since the 9700 pro i had about 5-6 years ago (maybe longer) :)

73c for a GPU is not much at all, even tho they usually run cool, still anything up to 100c you're on the safe side and tbh it doesn't seem that much for a load temp at all, quite normal. 30% fan speed is low as well, it should be fairly quiet untill around 45% if I remember well.
