I have an i7 965 currently overclocked to 4Ghz by raising the multi to 30 and the Vcore to 1.3v. Using Thermalright Ultra, temps are around 35C idle and 63C Prime95 8 hours. I use this PC for running FSX flight sim which is still CPU limited, hence the overclock. Do you reckon 1.3V is OK for 24/7 use and not just for benching?

Thanks for that, my mind is eased as I'll not be able to afford a new chip for about 20 years after this.

No, but the price of this CPU, MB and RAM cost a few years of upgrades! I kept my last PC, an E8600 @ 4.33 Ghz, all I needed was a graphics card, connected it up to a 40" HDTV and hid it behind the TV cabinet where the wife can't see it. I've got away with it so far and have great sport with my son playeing LAN matches.

Nice work ;)

I'm also guilty of the white lies with the missus though she doesn't complain if it means she gets something out of an upgrade!
