Hey guys

Kinda started to overclock my E8500 on my Asus Rampage. Currently got it run at 3.8 GHz (not bad) but looking to push it hopefully up to 4Ghz.

I'm just a little unsure about a few of the Bios settigns on this great board and was wondering if someone could give me some good advice with regards to voltages and settings for the board. Namely what a good safe voltage for the NB voltage setting. Also what is the maximum voltage I can pass through the E8500 without frying it (on air). Obviously I'd like not to run it at Max volts just want to make sure that i won't over volt the porcessor.

Cheers

I would try to keep the E8500 below 1.4v (as read in Windows, not in BIOS).

I don't think there's any limit to the northbridge voltage. Plenty of people go as high as 1.7v, tho often you'll need to keep it cool if you go that high (tho I don't think you'll need to go that high with a dual-core CPU).

Refer to chapter 2.1 in the manual, it tells you what is safe and dangerous voltages for the NB. You can use your own judgment as to how far you want to take it.
