Hi,

A couple of bits of help needed.

Ive just started overclocking my P4;

Cpu: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.80GHz (Northwood)
Cpu Speed: 3.5GHZ
fsb:dram 5:4 (ddr 400)
corsair pc3200 1gb (512 dual channel)
MSI neo 2 mobo
memory voltage 2.6
meory timings (default) (2.4.4.4.8 as listed in cpu-z)
Vcore: 1.6
Cooling: Artic freezer 4
Room Temp: 23
Idle Temp: 36°C
Loaded Temp: 52 -56°C (48-50°C with case side off)

Basically is a cpu voltage of 1.6 and memory voltage 2.6 "safe" ie not gonna signifacantly decrease this ageing hardware.

Second, bit of help, I noticed, "mortals" in another thread. had the same cpu at 3.5 but with 1.45 volts. So, how or can, I get mine down.

Cheers

You'll need a fairly decent core to do 3.5Ghz on 1.45v. Stock volts for your cpu is 1.525v, so 1.6 might be ok but a tad high, a few people with that vcore ended their cpus career with SNDS (sudden northwood death syndrome) though its usually a higher voltage that does it in.

My northy has been at 1.5875V for around about 10 months now without any problems. But i have a 30 capper which has a stock voltage of 1.5V not 1.525V.

Anything under 1.75V is fine.

I can only get mine to 3.4Ghz, and that's at 1.63V. I think my motherboard is holding me back though (ageing Abit BD7-II).
