Hi guys a quick question, Whats a safe voltage to use for 24/7 running of a 3770k. I have got upto 4.8ghz with a vcore of just under 1.3 with temps of low 70s. I am trying to reach the magic 5ghz and I cant get 4.9 stable without going over 1.3v, any help would be much appreciated

It's temps you have to watch out for, I wouldn't feel comfortable running over 72c for prolonged periods. That's an excellent overclock you have there at under 1.3v, 5ghz looks nice on paper but the improvement won't be noticeable outside benchmarks. As for voltage, you probably aren't going to be able to go much above 1.4v unless you have extreme cooling.

I tried bumping up the vcore to 1.4 to see if I could get a 5ghz overclock and just got bsod, even at 4.9ghz my temps shot up to low 80s, I am happy with my temps at 4.8 and am sure with a bit of tweaking I could get 4.8 stable under 1.3v

anything under 1.4v imo,but for 4.8ghz @1.3v with all theads enabled? that's good or your still not stable when it comes to gaming if you ask me

I would do an hour of farcry3 or crysis3, and if it doesn't crash to desktop your fine, also look in event viewer for whea 0 event19 warning/errors

I need 1.38v for 4.8ghz and 1.475v for 5.1ghz

intel burn test it passes but when it comes to hard stressfull gaming it will crash to desktop if the cpu voltage isn't enough on ib

63c max I get at 4.6ghz,78c max at 4.8ghz with silver arrow air cooler, its risky but worth it

befor delid id be hitting 80-81c at 4.6ghz

also look in event viewer for whea 0 event19 warning/errors
Still getting a few whea 19 errors in event viewer, though the last was 5 days ago, been gaming most of today without any freezes. Vcore is currently at 1.3100, dont mind nudging it up again as im done stress testing, temps wont get an awful lot higher with a bump in games. Aside from the whea errors it's been running perfectly. Just seems that my chip is a bit of a lemon.

you might be alright with the odd one or two,i think if theres a lot it will crash out

same in prime95 when a worker stops if you look 9 times out of ten it will show a whea error/warning in event viewer

Theyre hard to pin down at times, take the last ones registered. All within a 2hr period on the 29th of march. Cant remember what i was at at that particular time. Gaming is probably the most stressful thing i use the system for. Yet today, playing bf3 for over 2 hours and not a single issue.

I am happy enough with 4.8 I am sure with a bit of fine tuning I can get the voltage down below 1.3 been playing battlefield for a bit and no errors

I do really rate my koolance cooling loop and I used the liquid pro so not sure if it has something to do with the mix of stuff I used
