ok up to now i thought my cpu would be safe as long as i keep temps under 70c and i keep upping voltages. but from a thread in this section i just found that theres a point where the voltage would actually increase the rate which the cpu degrades faster or something and i was wondering what would this be for a C2D cpu? 65nm?
 
The max recommended voltage for 65nm core2duos is around 1.45-1.5, but like has been said already, its more dependent on the temps. I personally wouldn't go over 1.45 on air.

but say if i pump 1.5v into cpu and temp on load only 50c should i go futher or is there a limit of safe voltages i can put in even temps are fine?
 
I wouldn't go over 1.5v for every day use on a 65nm Intel processor. There is a point that the voltage simply starts to kill the CPU, regardless of how hot it gets. Besides, you shouldn't need more than 1.5 except for extreme overclocks. I benched my Q6600 at 1.75v once, but it made me very scared!

What he said.. If you want to use the CPU for at least 2 years, don't push the volts over 1.5 - I always prefer to err on the side of caution hence why i say 1.45 is the max. I think you'll find the limit of your CPU is when you start needing big steps in voltage to get it to run only a tiny amount further.

In my case I got a Q6600 to 3.4Ghz @ 1.45 stable and to get it to 3.5 unstable was 1.55+ which was a big step up from the previous voltages I had been using. You'll know when to stop pushing :-).
