Hi Folks,

I am in the process of overclocking my new Q9550 but am a bit unsure of the voltages I should use.

Currently it is running at 473x8.5
CPU volts are 1.248 in CPU-Z under prime 95 small FFT load
I have my Northbridge set to 1.3575 and my VVT set to 1.32.

What I did when I first overclocked the chip was just wack all the voltages up to get to 4Ghz and now I am reducing them slowly to get a low voltage and keep the cpu stable.

I'm pretty happy with the temps I am getting at these volts and clocks (the hottest core hasn't gone about 53 and the lowest 48) so I may try push it a bit further buy 470mhz enough I think for day to day running. CPU is currently being cooled in a custom water loop with my GFX card.

What voltages do you use for your Q9550s?

I believe 1.45 for vcore and 1.4 vtt is the max recommended for 45nm, however i might have got those two mixed up and its the other way around!

ive read 1.4v on the VTT should not be exceeded too, not sure if that accounts for 65nm as its that i got the info for, on my q6600

1.4v on core and VTT/FSB Term, and 1.6v on the PLL are the recommended max voltages.

Northbridge doesn't matter as it doesn't directly affect the CPU.

intel specs the absolute max as 1.45vcore and 1.45vtt.

However for 24/7 use I'd stick to 1.4ish and below
