Safely Removing Linux

How can I safely remove Linux from my dual-boot because previous times I have ended up deleting the grub-loader?

You need a windows disk, to fix the 'MBR' that will remove grub safely

Probably also worth using something like GParted in a Live distro to get back the Linux partition too and format as NTFS.

boot off a windows 98 / dos boot disk and do fdisk /mbr (there is a way with a win7 boot dvd but i dont know it

then you can delete the linux partitions using disk manager in windows

The relevant Recovery Console commands for Windows XP are fixmbr and fixboot; Vista and 7 use bootrec with or without switches. If you don't have access to Windows installation media, give EasyBCD a try.
