Safest temps for 3700 SD under load?

As it states Im currently running at 51 under load. My ambient temps are 34 at idle. Im running an arctic freezer 64 pro, with the fan at the front sucking in and the one at the back blowing out.

My case is a Antec SLK3800B which has another side hole for a smaller fan, I want to add a fan here as I think my ambient temps are high, should this be blowing air over the cpu or sucking warm air out?

The cpu cooler is facing outward blowing air through the fan thats sucking air out of the back, is that the best way?

Also my temps idle for the cpu are 38, I think thats high am I right ?

I would have the side fan blowing in, and have a rear fan blowing out. Your temps arnt bad at all, im running the same chip as you, with a artic freezer and i get 36 idle, and 45load.

Thanks. The rear fan is blowing out, Im a little worried about adding the extra fan as the noise is already high, will the side fan add to the noise or will it just be drowned out by all the other fans?

And how did u get your chip to run at 45 load?

What compound did you use? I'd try reseating your CPU see if that helps, also buy some Arctic Silver 5 (if not already).

My temps are ok, im using stock volts. 1 front intake fan, 1 window fan, and a rear fan.

Seems to be a very overlooked fact around here but MX-1 is BETTER than AS5. Your temps would have better by as much as 2degC if you'd stuck with the MX-1 :/

Nothing wrong with those temps, i'd be tempted to push it until it was reaching 58 degrees C or so at 100% load. :)

Unfortunately I cant go past 250 htt no matter what I do, I seem to be hitting a wall after that. It cant be my mem as Im running a divider, not sure what the bottleneck is

You could try upping the Vcore a bit or you just may have reached the limit for your CPU.

MX-1 is too hard to apply. wasted half the tube trying to apply it to a gf4 core.
i just use coolermaster/arctic cooling/akasa white thermal paste which is easier to spread. can;t be asked with all the hassle for minor drops in temps.

Hard to apply? Comes pre-applied on the base of the HS :/

Strike that, I had my freezer pro the wrong way round, temps just dropped by 6 degrees

The Wrong Way Round???

You stuck the fan to the CPU??

But seriously, what do you mean by the wrong way round? You can only attach it one way, or do you mean you had the fan on upside down so it was blowing away from the heatsink rather than towards?

I had the HS fan facing towards the rear of the case towards the exhaust fan. I switched it the other way around and now my temps have dropped considerably.

In other words I had it set up the opposite of this...

Hmm sounds more to me like you reseated it a bit better :)

Thats why the temps have dropped
Actually sounds more than that..

The way he has it now is the correct way round. The other way heat would build up between the HDD and HSF. Now it'll flow straight out through the back of the case ( could do with an extractor fan or two though ). Added benefit now is the power stuff on the Mobo get's some cooling now too as the freezer's lower fins direct air onto it.
