Hi,

I wish to transfer Sage Accounts and Payroll from one PC to another.

I have received the .exe from Sage and installed the software on the new system.

I have then created backups for both Sage and Payroll by using the backup feature within the software. This has given me 2 x .001 files.

Is that all I need to back up from the original machine?

The original machine is to be wiped and reloaded so I want to make sure I am not forgetting anything.

Thanks in advance

I've done this quite recently. To be sure I wouldn't wipe the old machine until you have imported all the data to the new one.

Is it the same computer you are planning on doing it from? To be sure you can try a restore on the existing system and see if it picks up the 001 files, I'm 99% confident it will.

From what I remember it was a pretty straightforward process with no complications.

Those files should be fine so long as you have told Sage to backup all files in the company file. I would keep the existing computer for a few weeks yet. If the backups don't work. You can copy the company files folders and then edit the company.ini file in all users/application data/sage etc to the location of those company files on the new computer.

I have just moved the Sage data for a client from one server to another.

Copied the Accounts folder from the old server to the new server. Created a new share on the new server for the new Sage data folder.

Updated the logon script for our Sage users to have their S:\ drive map to the new data location. No need to change any .ini files since as far as Sage is concerned, the data is still on drive S:\. :)

You can transfer the native folders iirc, you just need to edit the 'company' file (no extension) which contains the data path. It used to be in the Sage install directory in earlier versions but I think since v12/2008 (ish) the company file moved to the all users directory.
