Saints Row 2 gamepad trouble

Just got this game, it's loads of fun, but my Thrustmaster pad isn't working properly in it: the Y- and X-axes are reversed (ie. twiddling the thumbstick up and down makes my dude strafe left and right!) and when I try to reconfigure them through the options I can't, changing the assigned axis does nothing!

So thought I'd post and check: those of you who have it, does it work ok with your pads, and, if yes, what pad are you using?

Don't own one but have you thought to play around in the game pad calibration in windows at all ??

supposedly it is a right pig to set up im afraid - v bad conversion

I cant even get off the island at the moment due to continous crashes....GREAT!
