saints row 2 ps3 issue

now this may be my mistake but i cant seem to be able to change weapons ingame. Ive tried holding down o and nothing happens, i know the weapon select circle should appear but not for me. It has however flickered a few times when i first played the game but nothing now. Its the psn version so im interested to see if others have the same issue. Its not the controller i'm using either as it works fine in other games and the problem is the same with the other pads i have too.
Any help would be awesome

i.ve tried pressing it all the way down. Its very strange to say the least. I guess its just one of those things, i have it on pc but was looking forward to playing it through on the ps3. Oh well
