Saints Row 2 release date?

Venting? What has saying he won't remove the fps crap from it to do with it ?
Or saying the graphics are good and we aren't appreciating them ?
And saying we won't see an open world game running @ 60fps for years which is a blatant lie, San Andreas runs @ 100-200 fps on my medicore gpu and GTA IV runs @ 40-60 fps...
And then trying to justify the performance by saying it has real time physics and data processing ...

The mod on that forums is a total tool. He hasn't got a clue.

No wonder the game fails so bad when it has testers like that.

Great attitude for a mod and QA tester. Really nice way to talk to his customers.

Thank god the performance issues have been brought up before i bought the game. Would have been extremely disappointed otherwise.

The sad thing is, if it flops horribly on PC they'll blame piracy or lack of interest.

I'd buy the game if you pulled the finger out and didn't release a sloppy, second rate, hideously ugly, waste of storage!!!
That mod on the forum, what a tool, massively bad attitude. I don't think it's too much to ask, to include an option to remove the fps cap. I don't know anything about how it would be done, but it can't be that hard for the folks in the know... Right?

That mod has been spouting rubbish for months. One of the reasons I knew the game was going to be a disaster, amongst other things. Although the forums there are a real cesspool most of the time anyway.

I'm actually glad Americans (and pirates) got to play it first and give us the lowdown, so I know to avoid it like the plague. It's a pity really, as the gameplay in SR1 was great fun and no doubt if SR2 had been a decent port to PC the gameplay would shine through.

Really don't know why Volition bothered anouncing a PC version tbh, they never had their heart in it from the beginning it seems. And yes, they'll play the piracy card as the only reason it failed

ive tried the game, and yes it sucks, grafix suck, handling sucks, not a lover of the controls using a 360 pad, the comment regarding a ps1 game hit the nail on the head for me

one thing i did like that i think gta4 could have had was the fast pull off after you do burnouts

this is annoying, saints row 1 and 2 on 360 were both miles better than GTA 4, since they were more like when GTA was actually good (vice city/san andreas), but if the performance is crap on pc there is no point/

Currently experiencing great concern over this title. Got a pre-order in with an on line retailer but comments here and on Rainforest US from people who bought the Steam version are making me wonder whether to bother.

The gameplay sounds really, really good. GTA SA (or even VC) standard of graphics does not bother me. Running at 32fps (which is 8 fps more than cinema speed) doesn't bother me. GTA IV performs reasonably well on my spec below, apart from the odd stutter and flicker. Not having 1680 x 1050 is a PITA but I can set a 4:3 res that uses most of my monitor.

However I am worried about being left with a slug that won't display > 10fps.

It sounds like an excellent title gameplay wise but the conundrum is whether to take a chance on the graphics running reasonably or should I cancel and forget? Is it really that bad?

Yes, it runs @ 15-25 fps for me while not even maxed, looking like San Andreas, sound rattling/cracking, etc... And I have a better spec than yours...

Rubbish better then GTA4? :o What have you being smoking! You are in a huge minority if you feel it is better.

sigh at another console ported pice of crap!
I was hoping this was going to be a gta4 beater, after the disgraceful port r* brought out.
But looks like they failed just as bad, or even worse in fact!

A huge minority eh?:D there are quite a few people out there that prefer SR2 to GTA4. I played through GTA4 and got bored very quickly. I'll be playing through SR2 on the 360 soon, and I hope it'll be better. Everything I've seen so far indicates it'll be at least a billion times more fun.

I'm just winding him up :D It is true though to an extent, look in the console thread were people voted there top games and GTA4 comes up an awful lot, SR2 I don’t think crops up, cannot seem to find the thread but it was a lot of pages and was not long ago created?

PC patch for the game is live.

http://community.saintsrow.com/blogs/?p=452

The Saints Row 2 patch for PC, previously mentioned on Thursday, January 22nd, will be going live on Steam later today. You will need to reconnect to the Steam servers in order to download the patch. The full change list can be seen below.

• General performance increase around 20%.

o This will vary depending on both the computer specifications and game settings.

• Fixes

o 3rd Party controller scrolling issue has been fixed.
o Corrected various crashes reported across all versions.
o Corrected a crash in “Drive-By” Diversion for Danish version.
o Corrected a crash in “Streaking” Diversion for Spanish version.

• Removals

o Original frame cap of 32 FPS has been removed.

• Additions

o New variable frame cap has been implemented. This will smooth out spikes in overall framerate.

• Players may notice a small hitch when crossing into new chunks in the world. The amount of time for this has been reduced for recommended spec machines, but may still be noticeable, particularly while driving at high speeds.

Please continue to report any issues seen within the Troubleshooting section of our forum. Previous reports from players have been extremely helpful and we encourage all of you to continue posting.

*UPDATE* The patch is now live on Steam. Please remember to log out and then reconnect to Steam in order to download the patch.
