Just wondering about the map sizes between both games. I heard sr2 was gona be rather big but the map seems big but not really on the scale of gta sa. I was wondering if its gona be smaller or about the same. What do u guys think?

Well you know what I think, imo SR2 isn't bigger than 1 island in GTA San Andreas...

Could have better asked in console forums, since it's been available for ages for 360 players...

It's definitely not as big as GTA: SA, I don't think many games are (as big as SA's map) apart from maybe Daggerfall and Morrowind, Oblivion wasn't that big comapared to the other two.

Better question would be to ask what was packed into the space as SA had some awfully unpopulated and rubbish areas that served no real purpose.

Bland? Pah, sometimes you just can't win. The quieter spaces were there for a purpose; that purpose was to provide a contrast between the action areas and the otherwise. The large space to explore gives players an option to have fun and pistol around rather than it being constant action. It's more realistic that way.

Yeah but there was too much quiet space, it was fine if you were in a plane or something but walking was just dull. The balance was off compared to other games.

This guy speaks truth.

I love the countryside& desert, driving/biking around with nothing around you just a nice environment is cool :).

Why would you be walking anyways ? You drive 90% of the game :).

I don't give anything about whats packed into the space, I just want a massive country like world with realistic detailed roads and countryside, and detailed realistic cities ( instead of tiny villages with skyscrapers )...

I loved the open and wide, empty space in San Andreas, it was awesome just making up your own fun things to do. Some people just don't have any imagination do they.

Especially when the Bigfoot/Leatherface/UFO/Ghost myths all came out, they obviously never existed but it was fun just believing it for the fun of it and hunting around the countryside and desert etc.

San Andreas is clearly the best GTA game in my opinion, beats IV hands down.

^ Sarc or serious  ?

It's not about that, it's just about having a nice realistic world to drive around in, or a nice open environment to drive your monster truck through.

id much rather have a more happening immersive space than nothingness, someones brought up the myths thing too, well wouldnt it be cool if instead of absolute nothingness in those space that there were quirky features and there was a point, Like if you could bust some dodgey goings on at a farm, or hijack a plane dropping drugs or something, that kinda thing if you get what i mean. Not directly linked to the storyline, just cool little extras.

Exactly, it was just a large area with nothing interesting, sure you could blast around on a dirt bike but it would have been nice to see a bit more detail put in.

It is interesting, nice shaped roads, nice countryside, nice road curves, nice hills, etc...
It's the only game with a bit of detail in tbh, look at TDU and that's quite rubbish when you get off the roads, there's not even 1 ''dirt road''...

More detail is always good, better road markings, much more traffic signs, better foliage, more and more realistic traffic, nicer off road terrain to cross through on a desert buggy...

I guess it's because I can't do it in reality ( have a drive) that I really appreciate the freedom to just drive around...

I never saw the empty space as something negative, I always enjoyed just driving around and stuff, running around seeing what you could discover in the vast wilderness or the vast desert. GTA IV is too much city, sure, the graphics are great and so are the physics, I didn't like the storyline and once I completed it, I've not touched it since, yet I still play GTA: SA to this day on both PS2 and PC and still enjoy it as much as I did when I first played it.

I loved all of San Andreas. One of the biggest let downs in GTA:IV, for me, was the distinct absence of of such a varied terrain. It was just city, city, city... I remember driving through the forests and deserts and what not, with Pulse.. SUCH good fun.

And the best thing about it was, that you would always find another place that you hadn't been before. That was the best thing about the game in my opinion, the fantastic open, and varied spaces.

I liked the different areas of GTA: SA the only problem is that the cities weren't very interesting like VC etc where you would go ah that's the night club I killed so and so at! A I remember taking pics of that guy from this building. SA was more I remember burning all the weed in the middle of no-where.

I have to agree about GTA: IV it was too much city and even the park has way to many obstacles to drive a bike around. They need to remove the fences etc :P

As for Saints Row 2 its fairly big around the size of 1 and a half-2 islands from San Andreas. But the variety is there and a lot of interesting areas with each area having something of interested to you. Such as an activity, a gang hideout or a shop

I also loved the wilderness areas of GTA SA. Probably the best fun i had with the game was not long after i got it when i only had the first two cities open - me and my mate used to try and swim over to the wee bit on the other side of the Golden Gate bridge (can't remember what it's called in the game) where there's a little town that doesn't give you a wanted level even though the rest of the area is still locked. Then we'd jack a vehicle and try and do a mad dash into the locked area and attempt to get all the way to Venturas and back with millions of cops after us. Was awesome fun.
