Would you credit it, I've been looking forward to playing Saints Row for ages now. Finally get the chance to and my 360 locks up after 10 mins and keeps locking up every time i turn it off and on :(

I did get the flashing red ring on one occasion so i think it's dead :(

OK so what can i do, whats the procedure for getting it fixed or exchanged and will i lose all my saves etc on the hard drive?

I'm gutted

Update...

I called M$ today about the problems i'm having and after 35 mins of listening to supermarket music i got to talk to someone.

I was told to disconect the hard drive and try some different games and a DVD movie. I said it's obviously faulty and what good would that do, She said i still had to do the test then call back, so i did.

Predictably my 360 crashed on everything and this time i got almost a full circle of red light accept for top right and no picture so i called them back

After being on hold for 30 mins i gave up (it was lunch time) Then i tried again after lunch but after 40 mins of terrible music i was cut off :(

I tried one mor time at around 3pm but after another 35 mins i was cut off

This is really bad i have a new game i've been looking forward to playing and a bust 360 and to top it off i can't even get through to M$

Is this the same for everyone?

Tomb Raider broke my 360.....

Found a place that i shouldn't have jumped through.....Lara fell miles, floated in mid air and then a high pitch tone came from the telly.....The 360 hung up.....I rebooted it and the 360 never worked again  :(

Where did u get it from? Cant u take it back to the shop? Not been out a year yet so should still be under warranty!

Just lie, always say you have gone over everything from the online support and if they ask you if you have done this that or the other just say yes. You can always try it later and cancel the re-call.

Ive always got straight through but I have a different number to ring through having the extended warranty. Your supposed to get priority. They turned mine round door to door in 4 days.

I got mine from Gameplay so i think that would be more hassle than M$, not sure

Your right it was stupid of me for not just saying i've done all that :o

How long will it take to get a replacement from M$ after i eventualy get through? Also i hear the replacement are quite likely to be faulty or develop faults quite quickly.

A little worried i am

I dont think replacements are any more or less dodgy than getting another new one. Personally I think they tried to cram too much into too small a box for beauty reasons. If it hadve been half as big again with larger fans I doubt these problems would happen. But then people wouldnt be happy with the looks.

I think these failures will just keep on happening until the thing is redesigned.

Sadly returns on these are something you just have to accept if you want one.

I have read about some people getting free games, controllers, etc. with their replacements lately. If you sound off about your supermarket music experience then you may get some swag. :)

My 360 has died too. Gotta phone them up, glad i read your post so i know what to expect. I'll just tell them ive done all the tests and get them to come replace my 360 :P

I've had 2 faulty units. The first I sent back to Gameplay and it was around 3 days return and with a brand new console. I've just recently sent my 2nd 360 back to MS and it took em around 5 days. It was stressful holding on the phone for long periods and then having to speaking to people who didn't know English.

Personally now I'd go for the gameplay return as it’s allot less stress, and you get to speak to someone with a brain! :p

Sounds good but in all honesty i would rather have a 360 console that would work and most importantly carry on working.

I've been reading up on 360 problems on a few forums like AVforums etc, and i really beleive this is a huge problem for M$ and if Sony's PS3 proves more reliable i think the PS3 will surpass the 360 quite quickly.

Thanks :)

I'll give Gameplay a call on monday and see what joy i get.

Theres loads of ppl into double figures with 360's, and theres loads of ppl on here will tell you its normal, 360's are fine, if you say they aint then prepare for a major flaming like what i got in the 360 poll thread, if you say they have problems and its not normal to have to keep sending them back every few months etc... then as i say prepare fro a flaming, as apparently if your onto your 7th etc... 360 its fine, and nothing to worry about, but me i bought one to play on, not to have to keep sending back to MS all the time, but apparently thats what you have to do with the 360, that is the 360 so its normal, if you have never had to return a one then thats not normal at all as thats not how the 360 is, its supposed to go **** up, thats how it was made, MS should have put it on the box, this 360 will die and eventually need replacing.

/touches wood-still on first 360

I've lost my Gameplay receipt damn, I'm considering taking out the extended warrenty with MS anyone else got it?

Edit* Just got through to MS regarding it and they have said my warrenty will run out Feb 2008  Reason for this is because I've had a recent return and they have applied an extended coverage! Woo saves me £60 for a while then. :)

Now thats interesting!

So what should i do? was going to call Gameplay, get a replacement then sell it and buy a new one with a full years warranty from Game so i can just walk in to a store for a replacement in future (or just sell and wait for PS3)

is gameplay online ?
i have a friend who works at gamestation,he says just bring it back with your reciept.
the staff there all have 360 's themselves and seem to be more understanding.they seem to be getting a lot back aswell,
