I can't find any proper reviews of these keyboards anywhere so I'm wondering if anybody has 1 and if they would recommend it. The V7 looks a bit of an overkill but I don't know which version to get. Any ideas?

I was flicking through the latest edition of Custom PC magazine. They did a test of loads of gaming keyboards including logitech G110, G510, lycosa, Filco Majestouch, and several others. They said the Filco was too expensive for what it is (around £100), in fact it got 50%, the lowest score. They voted the Cyborg V5 as the best bang for the buck with 86%.

I have the V7 and love it all the keys have a nice responsive feel to them and commonly used one's like the arrow keys, space bar and wasd all have a coating on them so the don't wear out as quickly. The touchbar at the top is great and also very responsive but only had it a week so havn't bothered with the macro keys yet although having clicked them in the process of playing around they also feel nice and responsive. I have the colour set to green on mine and seems the best choice but tastes will no doubt vary.

did they say anything about the V7?

I also read custom pc I just couldn't be bothered to get my mag upstairs and I'de already read the review. Its just when I was looking to buy it I saw the v7 and custom pc has never mentioned it. I've ordered the V5 now though coz the v7 just looks unnecessary.

Btw, talking of pc magazines, I noticed in micro mart mag, the overclockers logo is printed as one of the vendors underneath some of the product ads.

The Filco is a mechanical switch keyboard. "Gaming" keyboards are cheap tat. Any chance you could scan the article for me? I'm sure the chaps at geekhack would like to read it.

Well, I didn't buy it. I just cheekily spent a few minutes of my daily grocery time at tesco to check out some magazine content. :p I might buy a copy though and if so, I'll scan it for you.
Thing is, the article was specifically a round up of gaming keyboards, and in that respect, they did say that gamers would prefer a few more bells and whistles. The razer black widow for instance has bells, whistles and is also a mech keyboard. The filco is purely a no frills mech keyboard for a lot of money.

Is it Novembers issue? if so I might be able to find a cheeky download somewhere.

Ah right, well, there's a new december issue out tomorrow and the cover of it says 'Chrome OS' with the google chrome logo. The one I read must have been the november issue. Can't quite recall the cover picture, a silvery cooler I think.

Wait, scratch that, lol. I stupidly just looked up micro mart instead of custom pc. Micro mart has the new issue out tomorrow with the chrome logo.

Ok, so, the custom pc mag must still be a november issue.

Ah, here it is * I'm deleting link, sorry, there are some competitors name on other pages.* It's issue 88 anyway.

Front cover though >> http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/9818/cpc88614x250.jpg

Cheers, that's the January issue. Grabbed the Nov and Dec issues and wasn't in either of those.

No, it's the current issue. Actually, I just found the whole article.

I want to do some screenshots of it for you. I need to go to bed, but I'll see if I can quickly do it, otherwise, tomorrow.
