Salary drop - new career

Anyone on here took a large salary cut to pursue a different career?

Currently been doing my existing job 8 years earning circa 40k

Considering a different career which would start on 22k but would rise inclemently up to 36k after 6 years

Anyone else made such a bold move?
 
Financially I could afford it but it alters a few things

Wouldn't be able to run the car I do currently (Cayman S) and house hunting at moment so house cost would have to drop
