Salary sacrifice price comparisons

I wondered if those with access to any workplace salary sacrifice schemes would like to compare the price of cars.

We would look at the gross price only, so becomes salary indifferent.

It may help identify what the good schemes are, and in some cases employers may be willing to change provider if the evidence is there. Obviously many companies won't, but it could be worth a try. Even if they won't, it will at least demonstrate which providers are better value than others.

People could post a car they are looking at and those with access to a scheme (wether they use it or not) can say what the price they see is (gross).

Im focused on electric because these days the BIK doesn't favour ICE, but we can compare all sorts.

And it's assumed with these schemes that they are all inclusive of maintenance, tyres, insurance, road tax, and breakdown cover. If this isn't the case on your scheme please say so.

So how about we pick a selection of cars to start and see how we get on.

How about:

Budget - BYD Dolphin
Mid range - Renault 5
Mid-high - VW ID7
High end - BMW 5 series tourer

My scheme is Tusker and I see the following prices:

All 12k miles, 48 months:

BYD Dolphin, top spec 60 kWh, 204 Design = £570 gross

Renault 5, 52 kWh, 150 Iconic = £636 gross

VW ID7 = not showing on my scheme

BMW 5 series tourer, 84 kWh, 340 M sport 22kW charger = £1156 gross.

BYD Seal Excellence AWD with Tusker.

£792 Gross (£472 Net), 36 Months 17500 Miles, all in(inc. insurance)

Definitely thinking about getting this one.

Edit: Interestingly I just put in for a quote for the BYD Dolphin, same as above and its coming back at £522. do they have different prices for different companies?

Edit edit: Renault 5 as above £590. And the BMW as above with no options £1109. All with Tusker.

I'm seeing Saloon 4Dr 0.0Electric 82.5kWh 312 Design Auto as the only model choice.

But on your mileage and term length the gross is £877.
I just checked again a few minutes ago - I can see the Excellence version in stock at a gross of £799, 48 months/17500 miles.

But it makes no sense to have different offers for different companies. So I don’t know.

Edit: Just re-checked it's definitely there under the cars in stock tab.

Took a look at NHS leasing, they had 2 on special offers:
BMW i5 touring from: £425
BYD from £219
Just make sure you calculate the impact on your defined benefit pension before you sign on the dotted line.

It’s material and if you plan to claim it for a long time (e.g. not die soon after retirement), it quickly adds up.

All done with 12k miles. May be possible to be cheaper but I've already got a lease car that brings me under the 45% tax bracket so not sure it they take that into account also. (Sorry about the bold, the tools to change aren't working with however i've pasted it into the reply box)

Monthly Gross Salary Sacrifice:£ 447.84

Total cost per month:£ 256.30

VOLKSWAGEN ID.7 HATCHBACK 210kW Match Pro 77kWh 5dr Auto

Who is the supplying company?

can just be another NHS type preferential deal where the lower cost to the employee is offset by pension reduction,
or the benevolent company just decides to subsidise cars more, accepting hit on company profits/dividends.

You probably want to define the exact models etc if you want to see the differences, plus mileage and time etc. I know some platforms won't let you quote past 36 months (so keep that in mind)

Who is the supplying company?
NHS Fleet Solutions (Hosted by Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust). Though they are just a broker type service, my BMW was through them, with all correspondence through Vertu Corporate, with the actual car supplied by Alphabet!

We have access to Tusker and NHS Fleet, Tusker have pretty much always been worse for pricing, it took me 2-3 years of pestering the DoF and HR Director to sign off accessing NHS Fleet. Took the same amount of time to raise the limit for Cycle 2 Work from £1k to £5k.

Good timing on this thread, I'm doing some cost calculations myself and had a few queries :)

- ID7 Tourer Match Pro S Plus 86 KWH (12k miles @ 26 months) ~ £900.27 pm (which I assume I can punch into other website calculators as tax exempt? "I sacrifice £900.27 tax exempt, of my salary every")

Others you mentioned

- BYD Dolphin, top spec 60 kWh, 5 Door Auto 2023 = £550.79

- Renault 5, 52 kWh, 150 Iconic = £599.35 gross

- BMW i5 series tourer, 84 kWh, 340 M sport 22kW charger = I can't see this model right now.

I can only get net figures out as clicking the generate quote button triggers hungry sales people to call both my mobile and office phone  Also unsure of exact models as the leasing site is quite basic

12k miles/48 months/insurance and maintenance included

BYD Dolphin 60kwh - £348

Renault 5 52kwh Iconic - £394

BWM i5 M Sport 81(?)kwh - £733

Are those Net prices? If not they are pretty dam good vs mine.

What field do you work in? I've found some places just have better deals, likely as they use larger leasing companies (based on industry)

Yes net figures, octopus ev. I caved and clicked generate quote on a R5

£629 gross salary sacrifice
Savings - income tax £252, NI £13, BIK £29
£394 net cost

Edit - I forgot these includes install of a charger at home
