Sales/Quotes software??

No idea where this should go so lets see what GD have to say

The company I work for sells products so issues a lot of quotes. There is currently a software system in place for this that does the job.

However I have been asked to look around and see if there is some more advanced solutions.
What they want to do is to be able to generate a sales 'pack' to email with the quote containing product catalogs and datasheets.

The way I would see it work is when products are added to a quote the software automatically pulls out the relevant brochures etc and then when the quote is processed an email is generated with all this attached and ready to send.

I am sure this is possible as it sounds sensible for sales but I have no clue on this area at all and even where to look.

There is currently a Dynamics CRM system in use by another department so whether this could be expanded to do this maybe?

Definitely Dynamics CRM especially if in use in other areas of the business.

Presumably all the documentation is held in a central location? So it should be a straight forward thing to do.

Is SAP the right kind of thing? I've heard the name a few times of late as our company really could do with some kind of proper quotation software. It's all done with software written in Excel atm, and there's no real centralised structure to that.

SAP could do it as well but if the company is already running dynamics CRM it seems more sensible to expand that installation rather than potentially implement another system.

What the others said, SAP is cool but if you haven't got it and have already got Dynamics CRM then stick with it.

Thanks for the replies.
I will get the two departments talking and see where things can go with using Dynamics then.
Slightly oddly, these projects and systems go on within the departments concerned rather than via IT, hence the lack of knowing the specifics of what the systems such as Dynamics can do.
