I went to a Salsa lesson the other day and quite liked it.
Am I a homogay? Or is Salsa a dark trick to finding ladies and having a bit of fun at the same time?

It all started when a friend broke up with his GF. Out on the town and he takes me to this salsa club. Within 30s he was dancing with a HB10, the rest of the night he danced away with hot blondes and Latina chicks while I sat and drank beer. The place was vibrant, loads of energy, a dance floor packed with people having fun. All kinds of people, across all ages and cultures.
I looked like nirvana. Simple go up to girl and ask her to dance, she will say yes, and then you have close physical contact while you do some pretty cool dance moves. The physical 'kinesthetics' over with you can proceed to chat at the bar etc.

Much better than the stupid system in normal clubs where a group of guys wobbles there shoulders holding pint glasses and a group of girls dance with each other.

I repeated this experience several times and decided I must take lessons. So I did. Luckily 4-5 people in my Lab started taking lessons a few months back so i have some company.

The first lesson was frustrating, it will take quite a few months before I can do much I fear. Is it worth it? Anyone dance salsa? How long does it take to be reasonably proficient?

Be careful. Dancing is not gay, but certain types are gay and some are lamer than a dog with no legs that's been shot through the head, such as line dancing.

Homogay? Remember one thing about taking an interest in generally feminine things - he who leads the women, leads the men.

I met my current gf through salsa, my best mate salsas a lot, i went to a couple of lesions, he met a girl through salsa who had a mate who also salsas and i got with her. I keep meaning to start going again but i can't really be bothered to learn and get good. I will do some day, very worth doing. My gf was the best in cambridge so it's a big part of her life

It's a little odd going to a salsa club with your gf and watching her dance with other guys, it's very sexy, although not as bad as doing the bachata, that's basically having sex with clothes on.

In answer to your question, no it isn't gay as you're out to dance with ladies.

Hey There,
I do ceroc which a mix of modern jive and salsa but i've also had lessons in cuban blues and latino. I've been doing it five months and i think i am reasonably proficient, i'm confident enough to dance with most people and i have a large repertoire of moves its great fun and an excellent way to meet new people.

My sister and brother in law have been salsa dancing for ~5 years, Joy says it took them about 3 months to get above a basic beginner level.

Interacting with other people is not an equation. Forget all that hb kino nonsense, it's embarrassing.

I agree in the most. I mention HB10 not from any concept of the game but in the widely known meaning that many males use to describe extremely attractive blond females. The Kino stuff I heard from a friend who read 'the game'. The concept itself in the basic form is sound. Gaining close physical contact with a girl change the social interaction by a small amount.

Salsa doesn't seem to gay to me. Really about dancing with lots of ladies, and the dancing is pretty sexual, and takes skill.

About what I was expecting. I think it will take me that long to get the basic rhythm under control with some slightly more interesting twirls etc. I'm not looking to be a pro, just to go to a salsa club and have a bit of fun.

Ohhh I really want to start Salsa... looks amazing and there's loaddsss of hot women do it, mostly guaranteed to be pretty with good bodies and a saucy side. Sod all this "will it make me homogay" rubbish, if you need to worry about stuff like that then you have insecurities! :p

I think thats the reason a lot of single men take it up, they think its an easy way to get laid. However, because its hard, and most of the women there are skilled, they end up meeting other men, and sleeping with them.

CAREFUL Richdog, it could happen to you!!!

True, I am not really actually worried about being classed as 'gay' just because I dance.
Was really looking for opinions and information.

One big plus point for me is that I am shy in unknown social environments, i.e. club and bars, so do not in general approach women. Situations like flat parties where everyone is osme friend of a friend then I have no fears.

By doing salsa there would be no apprehension in approaching a girl for a dance, and the conversation can flow from there. And with time my shyness around unknown girls would fade I imagine.

Well at the very worst at least it'll double my options. :D :o

I used to go to some cerock thing with my girlfriend. She danced and I took advantage of the subsidized bar. I think it's similar to salsa. Not my thing but OK to watch for a couple of hours while getting bladdered

Not to disparage women salsa dancers, but it's far easier for them than it is for a man. As salsa is freestyle the man has to lead the dance, so he has to move himself, lead the woman, and know what moves he is going to do next. You also have to make sure you know what style they will be doing at the club you want to go to, eg; New York on 1, New York on 2, Cuban, do they do a Rueda. Plus they might throw in some Bachata or Merengue tunes.
If you can do it though the girls do love a good dancer.
