My son's HP G6000 lappy mobo has fried after two years!

I have got hard drive out and it has a recovery partition on it. It had Vista Home OEM installed. Anyway I can legally recover and use the OS on another machine?

You pirate. You law breaker. You thief. You should be strung up.

Sarcasm btw

if you have the cd key and the vista disk you can do a fresh install on another pc and activate using their automated phone service. People may consider this illegal because it's only meant to be installed on the laptop but it's unfair on you to loose the OS because your laptop fried.

If you rang Microsoft Support and explained the situation it is likely they would give you an activation key. In which case all you'd need is any Vista Home OEM disk.

Where's that .jpg of a can full of worms gone when you need it?

Here we go again.

Strictly not legal, but I wouldn't really worry too much tbh...
