Hi, im looking for a little help in building a new cheap gaming rig. I haven't built one since 2006/2007 so im a long way behind on what new gear to put into one, and i havent got the funds i used to throw into PCs back then so i was hoping maybe i could salvage some bits from my tower, but im not sure whats compatible and worth keeping nowadays.
My current system is:
Intel DUO 3 ghz cpu
4x1gig OCZ h20 ram
Asus striker extreme mobo
2xAsus 6800 ultras sli
Asus Physx Card
Sound Blaster Sound Card
WD raptor 120 gig hdd
Enermax Galaxy 1000w psu
Chieftec Scorpio Full Tower Case
I have EK waterblocks on the graphics cards, chipsets, and Mosfets running through a 3x120mm rad and a 1x120mm rad, with the best pump i could find at the time.
The cpu i had a prometia mach2 phase change cooler on.
I havent overclocked in years and don't intend on doing it again, but i thought maybe i could reclaim some of the water cooling system to keep the new build quiet.
The main things im worried about are, will the new mobo's mounting holes match my old case, is the PSU still compatible with current systems, will it have the correct conectors?, and if i stick with an Asus Nvidia Mobo and Asus Nvidia graphics cards, will any of the water blocks still work?.
Once i can work out what i can keep, and can look into which new bits to buy.
So far the only things im pretty sure will work in a new system are the Sound Card, and the 2 radiators and pump.
Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
