Sam Michael and Jon tomlinson leave Williams

There are to many old men doing things the old fashioned way at Williams.

They need a massive shake-up and some young blood in to sort them out.

Yeah but who?

All the teams that have been successfull or rebuilt success haven't been doing it with young blood they have been doing it with the old established order.

BAR tried it with young blood, so did Honda, Jaguar, Jordan etc. BAR hired loads of young talent from various teams and got nowhere. Sam was seen as the young future and gradually the team has gone backwards.

I don't think the problem at williams has been old fashioned ways, more lack of budget through not developing the williams brand when they were on top.

Such a shame because Williams had the best racing ethos on the grid.

Your right on the brand front but what they are looking to do is what happened at Sauber last season when they got in the Force India bloke (who had a big hand in a car that nearly won at Spa the season before).

I see it as fresh ideas onto what in theory is a good car. Its sad they are the two to go but not surprising really as overall the team just has not performed this season so far (and killed my fantasy F1).

At least Frank and Patrick are being sensible about it and confronting the problem head on as this was the season they build on from getting things back together over the last few years

What this could spell in the big picture is Williams slowing development of this years car and getting on with 2012. The shake up could mean one last big upgrade after the planned updates they already have, then no more. I cant help think that going public had something to do with this decision so early on, perhaps if they weren't, it would have been later on in the year that the transition was made.
