Samaritan

Thought this looked rather good. I'm not like @Tombstone who has given up on the typical Marvel/DC superhero films but I do like a good old fashioned film on someone with super-powers.

I enjoyed Hancock and this can't be much worse than that!

I'll give it a go later tonight but based solely on the trailer which I thought looked OK. I've not read (and won't) any reviews beforehand.

I liked it. It's a retro super hero story, none of this modern marvel bs. Noticed a review along the lines of "if you put quarters into street fighter 2 you will like this" - agree with that.

Just finished watching it.

Decently enjoyable and worth a watch with a solid cast.

I enjoyed it more than some of the recent Marvel offerings. It's in no way comparable to their scale but at least with Samaritan I wasn't disappointed.

Reminds me of the late 80s to mid 90s action flicks that you could quite happily re-watch.

So bad it's almost good, but not quite.

where to start?

Terrible kid actor
Terrible special effects
Terrible almost comically so bad guys
Really inconsistent displays of powers for the Hero
Off the top of my head at least 25 of the MCU movies are better than this.
Hancock was a better movie
Almost no blood for some reason considering the violence.
Weird semi cyberpunk ish imagery and vehicles, didn't add anything.
Few swear words thrown in to get a higher rating? Remove them and it's a kids movie.
Whole scenes or bad homages to scenes from other superhero films.
I love 80s and 90s films. This wasn't a good homage to them apart from maybe in terms of cheese.

Saving grace, Stallone is Stallone, has some catchphrases, facial expressions, slow walks, moodiness.

5.5/10 - I doubt I would ever rewatch it.

Hmmmm maybe a 4/10 - I'd figured out the "ending" by about the 20 min mark, felt "cheap" in every scene (CGI, sets, production etc) definitely not something I'd watch again even though Sly did OK-ish but he's definitely struggling physically at this point which is fair play considering he's 70+.

The boss of the bad guy reminds me of thingy from lost boys, im sure its his same haircut at least.

Thought film was canny myself.

Yep, I certainly see that.

Overall 6/10 for me. I found it quite watchable.

Budget Clarence Boddicker aka Lost Boys bloke hamming it up something rotten was a bit too cheesy. His gang of plebs were just dreadful and Sil was wasted.

Entire film reminded me heavily of Delta City in Robocop and I’m sure that’s what they were aiming for. Sly is certainly pushing it but I love hearing him talk and deliver his lines. The bad guy moment I have to admit was great.

Kid is dumb af.
