Samba Sharing, Netbios Name, Etc..

I connected through my university VPN to get access to some academic papers and now my NetBios name has been left as something stupid, breaking all the shares to this computer I have, all over my house. Is there anyway to force change this back to what I want?

Yes - you have profiles ("locations" as Apple calls them) which allows this.

My desktop never leaves my house. I didn't (and don't want to) change my Netbios name ever, but when connecting to the VPN the university seems to change it for you. Is there no way to force the change of the currently used (see the grey text in screenshot) netbios name in system prefs or the command line?
