Same HDD,,,swapping drive letters...

Best laid plans...
I have a 1TB HDD. I have partitioned it under Vista 64. The 468GB C drive has the Vista OS on it as does the 146GB E drive.
I want to swap them over...Vista wont let me...is there any way to swap them around?

You can't swop the drive where the OS is installed.

Both the C drive and the E drive have the OS on them...are you saying it's impossible to swap them over, or rename them?

yeah, too much is stored in the registry, if you try, you'll fail and wreck the installs.

format the drive and start again

I dont mind formatting the drive and starting again...but not to end up in the same situation i.e. I need to have my drive partitioned how I want it...not how Vista wants it...and I cannot get the C drive to shrink to a small enough partition under Vista.
Why is such a simple process so difficult?

Managed it in the end...lots of deleting drives (Volumes) and re-installing Vista...took forever.
