same old DS3 problem, but what about ram??

ok so i seem to have the same problem a few other have had with the DS3. Just upgrades my rig with DS3, e6300 and Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-6400C4 TwinX RAM. Now all is installed. But when i turn it on, no post. The fans turn on but the TFT stays off. I have tested all the cables. Swaped the GRX card to no luck. Swapped the RAm stick around. Tried it with no ram in. kept turning on and off ever 5 seconds or so.

So im at a loss atm. Firstly has anyone tested the above setup. I no the DS3 has problems with sum RAM but i thought this one was ok, can anyone confirm this??

Also do i go back to overclockers about this or do i have to contact gigabyte direct??

Please help. was looking forward to this for weeks

Have you upped the RAM voltage? (2.1v it needs I believe)

i cant up the volt coz i cant get it to bios. gona tried a cheap pc repair shop tommorow, see if they got sum cheap RAM laying around

Ah.

Yeah you'll need a cheap DDR2 stick to get it going then.

What causes this? Is it the motherboard or the RAM?

i believe its the mobo RAM voltage being to low, default 1.8. needs to be 1.9 - 2.2 i think.

got similar stuff to you and i couldn't get into bios.
Just kept hitting on/off until it finally booted. Guess i was lucky.
more volts it does need tho still have stability issues which i think is ram related.

so i just went and got sum 5300 elixir rubbish running at 1.8 but still not luck. cost me £35 for 512 as well. Anyone got any other ideas

Try hitting the reset (or power button) a few times, the inital boot needs to set the BIOS according to the auto settings picking up what's on the board.

I thought mine was borked when I first turned it on, the fans started then it went off. Did it a couple of times, hit reset a few times and it came up. Remember also that the smart fan seems to be enabled by default - my first boot was without the fans spinning, the CPU was cool enough with just the HS.

WHile I do want either this or the S3, I have to admit I am a tad worried about buying the board... there seems to be so many DOA's and RAM problems
