Going to check this out at the weekend :)

Subaru Impreza WRX STI Type RA V Limited

PICTURES REMOVED

So same colour as mine, same shape as mine and the foulest looking rear spoiler ever to grace a classic Impreza (and yes its genuine subaru). So why bother?

Because its probably one of the best and most well equipped Classic Imprezas ever to be built.

I'm hoping I don't have to part with much cash plus mine. Mine will go as a whole.

Not sure I'm happy with the P1 spoiler on my car. Obviously the S201 wing on the above car will be coming off but I might just put a mid level one on ala UK turbo.

Apart from mudflaps (a must IMO) and wheel change (Got 18s on mine and never really felt comfortable pressing on - not like with 17s but that might be the tyres) I'm going to keep it as original as possible.

In some ways I wish I hadn't modded my Impreza cosmetically. The one above is IMO very rare and really should be kept "O-natchurel"

Only thing that really puts me off is the APEXI AFC thingy - why just that without a boost controller? If raising the boost pressure doesn't kill a turbo car, being able to fiddle with the air/fuel/advance sure will.

Doesnt the apexi control the boost also, and can be displayed in several different ways onscreen?

No, this is an AFC which controls air/fuel. The boost controller made by Apexi is the AVC.

Now I've seen cars with both or the AVC alone but not the AFC alone. I'm hoping its fitted to compensate for any issues the car had with having the cats removed or in an effort to help it digest UK fuel without going POP. Its also got an atmos dump valve which throws the air/fuel out too.

I actually love the spoiler, keep it if you buy it :)

Its different but just not to my tastes. Technically its probably quite expensive as its genuine Subaru but I doubt its going to be worth that much in reality.

Type R = 2 door

Type RA = 4 door

One 5 year old daughter = 4 door :D

Edit - apparently the rear spoiler was an option from new!! Still coming off though.

Up to version 4, the low/mid spoiler was used. Version 5 had the high spoiler with a flat cross section and version 6 had the high spoiler with the flip up in the cross section.

Car I'm looking at is version 6. V6 have blue dash surrounds.

I'm thinking of just going for the low/mid one. High spoilers increase drag.

THIS is an S201 - only 300 ever made - wonder why? :)

I wish I'd left mine as it was here.

Mine now - I like it but I think it looked better above.

Er - all spoilers increase drag...

M

Thanks for that

Would you agree that the bi-plane spoiler on the back of the car in the top pic would increase drag over the mid/low spoiler on the blue and white cars posted above?

Not to mention the weight of the thing. The P1 spoiler on my car is much heavier than the mid spoiler. Have to be careful not to let it slam. The bi-plane one must be heavier again.

:)

ah

its an S201 spoiler

the S202/3/4 all have weird spoilers too

that explains it then :)

OffTopic - Mr LoL, you from Wakefield? My GFs parents live in Pontefract. Hell of a trek from West Wales!!

We don't take the scoob - would need a tank and a half just to get there!

Off boost I can get 320+. Once drove 200 miles and gauge was on half-way. Would probably have got very close to 350 had I just turned round and come back.

Think its well over 400+ from our house to her folks place. Takes 5 to 6 hours depending on comfort breaks. Plus where they live is a bit iffy so I wouldn't sleep very well :) Usually borrow a hire car from a dealer friend for a few bottle of wine.

Found out some more on the car. Previous owner worked abroad and only used it now and again. Car been to two garages I have taken mine to. My current garage said as far as they no its structurally sound.

So roll on Sunday. :)

You had me worried for a minute. If that was the case then it would be game over.

Update after viewing.

Went to view car this lunchtime. Don't want to post details but I didn't even want to drive it = think that says it all

Hmm, me thinks the seller saw this thread.

OOO get you Mr SmartyPants

The seller has my mobile number and (if he were so inclined) I really don't need the grief if he saw this thread and pics of the car he has for sale etc.

Friendly chap etc but was I was very unhappy with what I saw.

I wasn't actually sure whether to say anything or not - like I said, he was quite friendly but not knowing the guy, I didn't know how he'd react if I said anything.

And TBH, the guy wasn't silly and bought and sold JDM cars for a living. Saying anything was pretty redundant and at best he would have told me to go forth and multiply.

OSF wing didn't line up (Bowed)
NSF wing worse that OSF (front of car look like it was drooping)
Washers used between NSF wing and body to align wing to NSF door
NS B Pillar creased from impact by NSF door

Having thought about it, I don't know if the internal strength of the car had been affected but I have a daughter to think about. What would I do if the car failed in "another" heavy impact and killed her as a result.

Probably why it wasn't on the forecourt.
