installed that software yesterday, didn't change anything and today windows wouldn't start!
got a 0xc0000021a error
system restore didn't work.
had to restore from a backup image i made a month ago and now i will have to redo all my things i've changed since then.

really annoying!

at first i thought it was the new xonar card i bought and put in but even out it didn't work - must have been the samsung software as it was the only new thing i did yesterday.

just a warning.

I have never had any issues after installing the magician software with my SSDs

did you try booting in to safe mode and removing the software?

ive had the software installed on windows 8.1, 7 and 10 with no problems

Never had it destroy an OS before - its badly programmed in the way it works with DX but not seen any issues with it that should result in a hosed OS.

i couldn't do anything - couldn't get into safe mode or use system restore. just gave me a crash screen any time i tried to get into windows.

it was very odd - i really don't think i did much in the software (i didn't turn on that rapid mode, or the OP thing it suggested).

as i said, it was the only thing i did on the previous boot so i can only assume it was the magician software.

lucky i made a backup image, and its working fine now - i will be doing that more often!

Not sure how Magician could have caused the issue, as it is mostly a passive monitor unless you press one of the optimise/update buttons, and to be honest these are mostly not advised.

According to Microsoft:

The STOP 0xC000021A error occurs when either Winlogon.exe or Csrss.exe fails. When the Windows NT kernel detects that either of these processes has stopped, it stops the system and raises the STOP 0xC000021A error. This error may have several causes. Among them are the following:

Mismatched system files have been installed.
A Service Pack installation has failed.
A backup program that is used to restore a hard disk did not correctly restore files that may have been in use.
An incompatible third-party program has been installed.

Could just as likely been the sound card software, a Windows update, or a virus.

could be, i don't really know what happened.
as i said it did coincide with me putting my new xonar card in the pc, but it didn't even get anywhere near windows or install any software.
i have yet to try to put the card in the pc and try again - been installing all the stuff i didn't have on the old image and then backing up a new image.
there have been no recent updates afaik and i have lots of antivirus protection and i installed nothing else during that time.

i am at a loss to explain what the real reason is, but the samsung software was the only thing i did to windows before it failed.

thank god (not really) for windows image backup!
