Looking for new low profile RAM as I'm looking to buy a Phanteks TC14 cooler and my current corsair vengeance won't fit under it.

Should I go with the Sammy Green sticks, Geil Black Dragon or other sticks?

You can remove the heatspreaders on your RAM if you want to... it does however void the warranty. Obviously there is a chance of damaging it, so if you want new ram then how about this?

I assuming you want 16gb and 2x8gb, that seems the best priced kit ocuk have at the moment. There is not really a benefit going over 1600mhz.

But as you were looking at the Samsung Green sticks I am guessing you don't mind having 4 sticks and want something faster (basically no benefit, honestly!)....

So how about:

Yes it is "only" 2133mhz but I think the saving is worth it, especially as like I say there is not much point going over 1600mhz unless you are doing extreme benchmarks :)

Would it be safe doing that? I wouldn't mind doing it but yea if anything goes wrong corsair won't RMA them.

I don't mind having 8gb currently not in need of 16gb only bought it at the time due to a offer and was only £6.50 more than the equivalent 8gb kit. I had a little look at the ones you recommended they seem good, but how good is the Adata kit? Never heard of that brand before or seen any reviews.

Get the Sammy Green, it's really tiny and won't be an issue with large heat sinks.

The best thing is it's great for overclocking. Running mine at 2133 9-10-10-21 1T @ 1.46v. Amazing ram. Glad I ditched my Vengeance.

I'd get the Samsung Green.

They are so low profile its hard to believe when you first see them. I have mine sitting under my Thermalright Sliver Arrow SB-E which has less clearance than the Phanteks, and I've got the outside fan sitting as low as it can go and it still doesn't touch the RAM.

Also the potential overclock from them is great. Mine run at 2133mhz 9-10-10-21-1T @ 1.475V. Completely stable, tested with hours and hours of memtest 86+, Prime95 and gaming.

This, also gonna be ditching my vengeance lp for the samsung. Mine needs 1.5700v to run at it's rated speed/timings. The fact it's low profile is the only thing it has going for it.

You won't be disappointed, my Vengeance was the silly tall ones. I mainly bought it for it's size as I have a SA. I can now mount the front fan.

I did have 16gb of it. Sold 8gb a while back, it fited grand below my k2, just removed the front fan to get it in. But trying to get the cpu oc stable with that much ram was a nightmare.

Okay sammy green it is, will probably wait until they have a offer since I'm not in a rush. Only got the vengeance cause they looked really good and since it was a good price at the time.

But its no faster in actual use? Why would you "upgrade"?!

I doubt it will be on offer any time soon as ram prices are going up massively.

Has anyone noticed a difference going from 1600mhz ram to 2133mhz? I'm still debating whether to swap my corsair vengeance for some Sammy green.

I noticed a slight increase, but it's like a second off loading games etc. You won't notice it really, I just wanted the best :P

The size of these are insane too, 3cm I think. They are TINY.

You probably won't notice much of a difference in most day to day applications. Video editing/encoding it will help a bit.

It certainly does help in Benchmarks.

Yea probably don't expect prices to get lower any time soon, but not in a massive rush can wait and keep an eye out.

hope you all have a magnifying glass and tweezers when you sam green arrive:D

Is it really that small? Can't wait to see them probably look tiny compared to my vengeance with the tall heatsinks :p
