Hey!

Ok ive just upgraded and plugged the new PC into HDMI '2' on my Samsung 40" LCD.... Currently running 1360x768 which is what my PC set itself to, but it just doesn't look right to me?!

Am i running the correct resolution for this TV and port? I was previously running 1028x768 IIRC through VGA.

I was under the impression this should be running 1920x1080 to truly be HD?

I really don't know what im talking about so if someone can put me straight that would be sweet!

Cheers!

ATI Radion 4200 HD (Onboard gfx - Asus mobo) and the TV is a Samsung 40" LE40R88BDX / XEU (Version: SP02)

Its not connected via DVI, im using a HDMI cable?

Ive just gone though the settings and it wont let me select 1366x768, not will it let me scale it up/down. The whole scaling menu is shaded out :(

i wouldnt worry about 1366x768 if you can select 1360x768. its only 6 lines of pixels or 3 lines top and bottom difference.

hardly worth the bother :) Why you say it doesnt look right, what do you mean?

The desktop icons looks squashed in slightly.

OK, i just updated the GFX card drivers and it allowed me to select 1366x768...... Selected it and the TV said 'Mode not supported' :-/

Now i really am confused... why isnt the TV working at the correct resolution?!

EDIT: Just looked at the settings again and it wont let me go above 25hz @ 1366x768?!? Is that the limitation of this gfx card?

I just downloaded the manual (page 60) and it seems that 1360x768(@60Hz) is in fact the diplay resoltion of this TV, not the much more common 1366x768.

If you still can't get the picture to look good, I suggest switching back over to VGA and use the controls for "PC Mode" on the televison to make the picture look good for you, just ensure the resolution is 1360x768.

yeah i think ive got it lookin half decent. I just played around with the brightness and contrast and various other settings. Getting used to the resolution a bit more, i think it was just me that was being weird having used 1024x768 for years!! lol!

Cheers for all your help and advice guys :)
