Hi lads,

The upgrade itch has taken hold I'm afraid and its all about the monitor :)

My Dell 2407 has served me well since 2007 but its time to move on to something more up-to-date.

PC use is 70% gaming 30% general browsing etc etc

I dont watch movies or do any photo work

After muchos digging around I have came down between two choices

Dell U2410

Lovely IPS panel, 1920x1200 res, and most review sites say its damn good for gaming (response times and colour accuracy)

OR

Samsung S27A950D

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-166-SA&groupid=17&catid=1120&subcat=

Gorgeous design, 120Hz support, bigger screen than U2410 (albeit 16:9 and 1080p), supposed to be superb colour accuracy for a TN panel

Any thoughts or input would be appreciated as I'm seriously struggling between these two bad-boys.

PS Ignore price difference for the sakes of recommendations and I run a GTX 480 which I know aint compatible with the Samsung 3D but I couldnt care less about 3D...used it on a mates PC and hated it!!!

Cheers

Not sure why you'd pay so much for an IPS panel when you aren't doing anything on it that goes to its strengths (colour accuracy for photo work and wide viewing angles for tv watching etc).. so I'd say its a fairly easy choice of the Sammy..

Was leaning towards the IPS panel because many TN's suffer from poor colour accuracy or "washed-out" look...didnt want my games looking like ****

Have you considered the newer and cheaper U2412M?

This thread contains all the reviews for that model - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18305748

Great, as if it wasnt hard enough already :D...a 3rd choice....but you're input is sound, the 2412M does seem to be a very good monitor for the price.

I suppose I could live without the wide gamut and the card reader on the U2410 as long as the gaming performance on the 2412M was as good (or better)
