Samsung 206BW Display Resolutions

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 206bw 20" LCD Monitor and wondered if it was possible to have say 1280 X 1024 display resolution but not stretched.
In other words I want 1:1 with black areas left and right rather than a stretched full screen.

if you have an ATi card theres an option in CCC under digital panel -> attributes -> use centered timings, there might be similar under nV control panel but i have no experience regarding that


doesnt appear to do what it says it does though....

there's a similar option in NVIDIA software, the screen itself doesnt offer any hardware level scaling though

Thanks everyone,

There is an option in the Nvidia control panel. But it will not stay. If I select the do not scale option it just jumps back to the default setting. Any way round this?
