I have just got the Samsung 206bw and i must say i'm not impressed with the screen quality at all.
Whilst viewing dvd films the quality is no match for my tv, the picture blurs, grainess and some blue bleed to the top of the screen.
I can't see why it gets such good reviews, have i a bad one??? :(

Is it an S or A panal?

Just check behind the screen. It should have either a S or A at the end of a bunch of numbers.

I have 2 A panals. I've had some issues with them but managed to fix them.

Not meaning to sound harsh but I hope you got a dodgey one, I've got one on coming from a competitor soon, bought it purely because of the good reviews :(. Does anyone else have this monitor, if so do you suffer the same faults?

Well not happy at all with ocUK, tried ringing a couple of days ago to explain i wasn't happy with this lcd and got fed up being on hold. Emailed them and no answer after 2 days so i have missed the 7 days right to cancel and still have a crappy display on this monitor.

You tried to contact them, so it still applies.

We shall see matey, i'm waiting on a reply because i'm not wasting money on sending this back for it to be turned around back to me.
I'm not at all happy and just want my money back for the lcd to get another, blimey i have spent enough money with them lately so it's the least they can do to reply to me..

Well i downloaded a icm file and now the monitor picture looks great, i guess the A panels just need correctly setting up and thats the only difference to S panels.

Uneven quality

Please take note that Samsung outsourced part of its production to AU Optronics and CMO.

It can be verified on the backpanel label. For more information, go to this article (sorry in french only).

To exactly know who manufactured your monitor, please follow those steps:
- Get contrast and luminosity to zero (0)
- Press the Menu button
- Press the Source button for five (5) secondes (second from rigth

A secret "Service Function" menu will then appear. Look for the "Panel Info" line. It's there!

To help you get the right colors from the AU version they propose an .ICM file that corrects the colors so you'll get the same rendering as the "S" version.

You'll also need Wincolor (from the microsoft web site) to apply this ICM.

Good luck!

I have the "A" version, and the ICM file did a fairly good job of correcting the colors!
