Hi all,

Got my new Samsung 226BW and I'm delighted with it. It's ****** huge! However, I'm having one annoying teething problem.

I'm running the monitor off a 7800GTX through DVI, over a normal DVI cable. When I first hooked the monitor up, no problems.

However, I cannot change my screen resolution to match the native of the monitor, 1680x1050. The option isn't there for me to select. Closest I can get is 1600x900 which is wrong aspect ratio.

I have tried reisntalling graphics and monitor drivers and I've tried to add it as a custom resolution but it won't accept it, at any refresh rate.

I know my card can output this resolution, Nvidia have confirmed this, but why won't it let me? Also, I think because of this, my favourite game GR:AW is not showing any widescreen formats in the video options.

I would rather have a true 16:10 ratio than 16:9 stretched.

Any help will be greatly apprecaited.

Have done already.

I looked at your posts but because you cant see the first part of the thread and I can't get the pictures in that thread as I'm at work,I could really tell what you were solving. I guess what you are suggesting is manually adjusting the timing and/or adding a new custom res setting. Is that right? As per my post, I've tried that and it didn't work.

As I can't see the first part of that thread, did you have the same problem? If so, will your post (when I can see the pic's) give me a fix do you think?

Cheers.

I've tried the "Bin Boy" process and that doesn't work for me as it wont accept 1680x1050 60Hz as a custom resolution.

However, I uninstalled the Nividia drivers and when re-booted, I had the option to select 1680x1050. Great. But, when I installed the 93.71 drivers again (even tried 93.81 Beta) the option to select that res disappears.

Any ideas?

Could it be that I've got an old DVI port talking to a newer DVI-D port? Would that cause an issue?

Dont know if this will help but i had the same problems and downloaded the lastest NVIDIA drivers and whas then able to set the highest res (native)
anyhow, got the monitor yesterday and it had one dead pixel and one halvdead one- don't know if i will return it or not....

I had the same problem and i had to customize the settings

Have you tryed these drivers? - 95.97_forceware_winxp2k_quadroplex_english

Did you get to see the pictures?

Also did you use nvidia fixed aspect ratio?

Tempted to upgrade my Hyundai 19" L90D+ with this
Only got a XL800 atm though so not sure if games will struggle at the higher res without lowering some settings.

Also disappointed at OCUK price on this, can get same unit £30 cheaper elsewhere so customer loyalty can only go so far...

Ahh but does the other retailer have it in stock and have they been providing the superior S panels..?

I know it's 50/50 what OCUK get for their next batch.. .

Neither have in stock, whether the other gets it same date as OCUK state (04/04/07) I do not know, they do update the in stock display pretty well so I will check back tomorrow.

As for the "S" panel, if OCUK cannot guarantee a "S" panel, I do not see the difference between either supplier.

I am also yet to see a comment from someone with the "A" panel and it being inferior... unless I missed one which is likely with the huge threads on this monitor :)

I remember quite a few people talking about some program which forces a resolution onto the screen, that might be your only option.
My mind has gone blank, as to what the program is called.
A quick search won't do any harm :)
