I bought one of these a year ago for £210, and now I am thinking of buying a second one to set up my dual monitors (it has to be identical as I like matching things :p)

I have been looking around and most places do not seem to stock it any more... and it is £10 more expensive at the place I bought it from last time :(

Just wondering why this is?

They have a very low input time lag over all other Samsung.

i would have thought they would be cheaper now but good luck with getting one the same even if you do find the same model.

there is always that whole panel lottery thing with the 226bw's...so you would need the same panel type as what you already have to match the colours up.

How do I see what panel I have at the moment?

Also, are there any other similar looking 22" models?

oh i really dont know...there used to be a hidden command...something like set contrast and brightness to zero
then hold the menu button down for 5 secs
something along those lines but i cant really remember...besides chances are that if you bought a new one it wouldnt be in the service menu anymore as they removed it.

so im lost for idea's soz.

im not really up to date with current monitors so will hold off from giving u real bad advice then have u hunt me down and kill me

How does that explain why they don't seem to be listed on a lot of sites (not even OcUK), and also that their price has gone up in the last year?

It has nothing to do with your question.

BUT

You are asking about it in Multiple threads so I answered you here. :)

What is the difference between this and the 226BW? I am looking for a second monitor to create a dual display set up, and I would like it to look identical to my 226BW as I want my desk to be symmetrical :)

I live in Spain and have found a seller with the 226BW for about 200 quid. I have no idea what panel they are but I should be able to go in the store and check out the service menu to see.

All I read says the 226bw are very good for gaming and all, so perfect for me. The problem here is I can't get hold of the newer Samsungs. Shipping would set me back a fair bit from the Uk with the way I have to ship stuff here so this looks a good option.

Should I grab the 226bw or try get a newer Samsung model?

@ Pers, That info is now removed from the Service Menu in recent times.

You may be able to look through one of the Air Grills and see the sticker (there is multiple threads here on topic and give you an idea where to look).

From what I have read, I might just stick with another 226BW, even though it will cost me around £30 more than the 2253BW :)

£30 is worth it for my desktop to match ;)

helmutcheese - did you get my email?

I got myself a 226bw. It was the last one in the store and it turns out to be a Samsung panel made in Romania. So far I'm very impressed with it and it's a great upgrade from my old Samsung 19" wide. It has a very small amount of backlight bleed which seems to be vanishing the more I use it.
