At a price of £720, i'm sorely tempted to buy a 32" Samsung LE32R41BD now. However a few people seemed to have come to the conclusion that:

1) XBox 360 performance = amazing (not surprising)
2) TV (Freeview or analogue) = worse than CRT (not surprising either)
3) DVD (through HDMI or upscaled component) = same or worse than RGB CRT.

Now I don't mind losing quality on the TV front, but if DVDs are going to look worse than a fairly inexpensive CRT (using RGB to a DVD player), then what's the point? I'm not expecting an upscaled DVD to look like HD, but I was hoping it would look as least as good as a CRT!

So what are Sammy owner's experiences of DVDs on their TVs?
Ta :D

Well, I was going to wait for the new samsung panels to come out, but after much deliberation and the prices between the two (£720 for old model or £1400 for the new(at best)). I have gone for the older model.

I will only really use the tv for my 360 and dvd's. For the later I plan to use my current pio 575a through component out putting a progressive signal. The tv will not probably arrive untill the end of next week, so I'll report back then with my findings (asuming I dont have any of the back panel connection problems that seem to be floating around at the moment and I can actually hook my dvd player up).

I'm going from a 6 year old 28'' 4:3 goodmans crt so I'm quite looking forward to it arriving :D

I was looking at getting something like the Samsung 890, to run upscaled through HDMI. Will that look as good as a CRT?

I have watched Star Wars Ep 3 and Sin ciity both on the 26" Sammy with an hd890 connected thru hdmi - looks fabulous - even mouth watering . I was really impressed
