So then, anyone buying one of these? If so, post your thoughts + pics/videos please.

£800 is a rip off for a monitor but given that it could be the new king of ultrawides, it isn't badly priced in that regard and should be a nice stop gap until 2019+ when we start to see OLED monitors (hopefully...), at least until it goes back to £1000, in which case lol...

Also, will you be reviewing this any time soon badass or/and PCM2?

EDIT:

PCM's review of the smaller model sounds rather promising

The problem is that most people with this kind of money to spend probably already have a high end Nvidia GPU, which makes the Freesync rather pointless. In fact, with no high end AMD offering available until VEGA (and very little known about that), this monitor is coming at a rather inopportune time. Could end up being THE ultimate gaming monitor if AMD get their act together with VEGA though, but that won't be for a good few months yet.

Yup I am expecting the price to plummet as even when the first version of the acer x34 freesync was £600, it wasn't selling well enough and gibbo/ocuk stopped listing it altogether.

Yes, I've requested a sample but will have to wait a week or so for an update on that as the guys are on their Christmas break still. ;)

PFFFFFFFT!

Slackers :p :D ;)

Whats with Samsung and horrible monitor stands , just copy Dell for christs sake, you'd think with their slim tvs they would know better.

The display interests me but I want to see indepth review in regards to gamma shift and usual black trialing etc with it being a VA screen.

Another thing that bothers me is for around £100 more you can get Samsung ks7000 hdr 4k 55" local dimming, the monitor isn't really offering anything more other than freesync & 100hz.

Yup exactly why I refuse to get any of these high end monitors now, just not worthwhile paying for them when you can get a superior display/tv for similar pricing, even significantly cheaper models will be far better than these 'high' end monitors... As you said, the only reason to get a monitor nowadays is for g/free sync or/and lower input lag. The thing is, freesync will be coming to TVs and consoles so the only advantage for monitors will be the low input lag then... Won't be much longer until the 2016 55+" OLED 4k HDR drops to £1500

EDIT:

Heck even my neighbours 40" LCD Samsung TV has superior IQ than my monitor and it was about the same price iirc (£300) as well as being a couple of years older...

Gibbo has said 3-6 months for gsync and that it will cost more.

It is going to be interesting seeing the price as the freesync version of this looks rather thin so I imagine Samsung have had to do a lot of re-designing etc. in order to accommodate the gsync module. As I said in another thread, I will laugh if the gsync version is around £1300/1500 and laugh even more at people who buy one at that price when you could get a LG 4K OLED HDR 55"+ currently for £1600 and by the time the gsync version comes along, it might be even cheaper than the gsync version :D

When will this be happening do you reckon?

Well supposedly the current consoles and even some TVs have the required hardware for freesync already so all that is needed is a firmware/software update for both but I won't be surprised if Sony + Microsoft + TV manufacturers withhold the feature for the next gen consoles and new TVs for marketing purposes i.e. giving "another" reason for people to upgrade so yeah, I am expecting things regarding freesync to kick of when the new gen consoles are announced.

I've got one on preorder. Though, I have to wonder why I am - even as beautiful as it looks.

I can get a 4K HDR TV for less money. Not that is what I want, it just seems far better value.

The problem with 4K TV's is the response time will not even be close to this monitor. PCM2 messured the 24" 144hz display as 4ms and i'd expect this to be similar. Even the best 4K TVs are in the 40ms range from what i've seen which is a huge difference! Combine that with the strobing mode for motion clarity and the benefits of a higher refresh rate and i don't see how a 4K TV can compete if you are mainly interested in gaming.

I don't know about LCD TVs as I've got no interest in them but OLED technology has superior motion/pixel response times than any LCD/144HZ display. Saying that... I don't see any reputable TV review sites ever stating a figure for response times, only ever input lag, which is usually between 20-40ms. For MP gaming, that input lag is a big no no but for single player games, <30ms is fine imo.

I was interested until I saw read that the monitor was silver and not white, at first glance it looked white and I thought yeah maybe I could get this to go with my white case that doesn't go with the rest of my set up and décor but.....nooooo

The rumoured 34" is also true and OcUK hopes to take the first delivery of those in January and expect the price to be around £900. :)
We have one of each here including the 34" and in short I am completely blown away, I have not seen a single monitor on the market that can even come close to them. Once the G-SYNC versions arrive next year Samsung will be a true force in gaming monitors and the rest of the market will truly have to pick their game up to compete with these.

Looks promising.

34" Acer freesync's are still for sale as they always were under a slightly different revision number as they er, revised something:

Personally I hate silver/white products :p Especially for monitors, don't know why they didn't go with a nice gun metal finish.

Yeah only difference is the curve iirc.

I was referring to the first version, originally launched at about £800+ and just kept dropping in price right fown to £600 (and regularly on sale for £560) but gibbo said it just didn't sell well so they stopped. If that one didn't sell well at £600 then this new version stands no chance of selling well at that price either.

That doesn't surprise me... given AMD's budget GPU offering and appeal to those building cheaper systems, top tier Freesync monitors are somewhat at odds with the wallets of those consumers who would actually benefit from them. This may change once VEGA lands, but for now there's a mismatch here. Those who could afford this monitor probably already have a 1070/1080.
