Samsung 38GN950-B vs. ASUS ROG PG35VQ

Hello - I'm in the market for a new monitor for a new build. I'd budgeted ~£1,500. Predominant use is 'generic PC' (working / gaming). I'm certainly not a hardcore gaming but I haven't had a PC for well over a decade so in many ways the PC is a fun toy to spec out, but I'll want to use it as a monitor for my work laptop too.

I'd decided that the Samsung 38GN950-B (£1,500) looked like the way to go with it's impressive size and specs, yet I've also just seen that the mighty ASUS ROG PG35VQ is currently available at a not too dissimilar price (~£300 in it).

I gather that the ASUS is pretty much the pinnacle when it comes to specs, although it's a bit gaudy. I also gather that it can be a bit of a faff to have to keep switching between settings due to how HDR support is integrated into windows.

As an additional consideration, in all likelihood I won't be using this monitor until Feb, so my sensible side says to hold off and wait closer to the time. Part of me says don't delay and miss out on a bargain (on the ASUS)!

Any views that might sway me either way? Cheers.

Edit - @chaparral based on your recent postings I think you may have a passing indirect interest in this thread :)

Edit 2 - does anyone know if the ASUS can split the screen into multiple windows without software? If not, that might be a deal breaker for me because I'd want to do that for work (noting that there's no way around having to plug in my work laptop as an external monitor).

Yes i ordered a PG35VQ last night ;)

I be comparing it to my Asus PG34Q when it comes
(But it will most likely take around 7 to 14 days to arrive due to me living in guernsey, channel islands)

I don't think you can split the screen into multi windows on the Asus...

Am guessing you mean to have half of the screen used for each input ?
