These are for cheap laptop replacement drives. these are not fast and if you want an ssd for a desktop for a bit extra you can get far more speed.

Necessary adaptor/cables?

This already states these are SATAII, and as such the standard cables that come with your motherboard will do.

All you need is this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-000-SR and the cables are the same as any other SATA drive.

The speeds of those are much slower

It seems Samsung have a shortage of those drives tbh. Everywhere I look says "Overdue" or "Pre-order." None of them say "In stock"

Of course if you drop down the price of the 256GB version to the same as the 128GB version then it won't matter.

You're thinking of the PB22-J. Samsung just can't produce these quick enough.
