Hi, new to the forum - desperately need advice regarding the fan speed on my new 700G7C.
It's the second one I've had due to a loose left mouse button (incidentally, the one on my current one is worse - I just can't be arsed). I've found the same on both.
Anywho, the fan noise is beyond acceptable when the laptop is idling - that is, no programs running. The CPU is lovely and cool at about a constant 35C, however the GPU creeps up to 40C, the fans spin up to a fairly high speed until it reaches 35C again (takes about 5 seconds). This is the same no matter what power option is enabled.
In addition, Samsung's ironically-named 'Easy Settings', when installed, changes these thresholds to 45C-50C. Again, the GPU creeps up to 50C easily when idling.
So, two questions I REALLY need the answer to, before I sell it on for an (unreliable but still a competently-designed cooling system) ASUS:
1. The rise in GPU temp - is this normal?
2. Is there a way to change the threshold temps using software, in order to maintain a constant low speed and therefore a constant temperature? Speedfan doesn't want to know, and a potential program Notebook FanControl http://www.computerbase.de/forum/showthread.php?t=1070494 seems to only work with CPU temps (as far as I can tell).
Samsung Support whinge about not being technical experts - and there I was thinking they could do such a thing as to forward it onto an expert. What an idiot I must be...
Any replies would be greatly appreciated!
