Hey, just wondering what the differences are between the samsung 940BF and the 940B?

Other than £30 diff, the 940B is 8ms, the 940BF is apparently 2ms....which it probably doesent always hit that.

All comments welcome :) Ta in advance.

Well, the only reason it hits 2ms is because of Samsungs "magic speed", im just thinking if ill actually see a difference...OR, i mite not bother, and just go with another CRT,like the Hyundai one im looking at in another thread... as im fine for space on my desk, just looking at al my options really...

that's basically it. The 940B was part of Samsung's 8ms generation of screens. These didn't use overdrive / RTC / MagicSpeed, whatever you might want to call it, but was still a very good screen. The 940BF does use RTC to boost grey transitions and it does this well. The grey transitions are sped up nicely and there is some noticable improvement in responsiveness in the panel. The panel used is essentially the same just with this technology applied on the 940BF. If you're looking for a purely gaming screen, the 940BF would offer the edge, but for a more rounded screen, the 940B would be better since the heavy application of overdrive on the 940BF leads to accentuation of noise in movie playback sadly.

lol, apples and pears mate :p all very good, you've read the article comparing them all at TFT Central haven't you? think you might need to take the plunge. The VX922 has the advantage imo

Indeed i have, ive read the article, ive read the sticky, and ive even read the new article on Tft cenrtal :P

So, in all fairness, you'd get the Vx922 over any of the others?

If i may ask two things, why is the Hyundai infact priced a fair bit more than the VX922...Also, what Tft do u own, (if infact u have one, ya mite have a crt you know :P) and like, what do you do on it personally?

Ta in advance :)

if i was in your position then, yes. I have a lot of time for the reviews over at XBit labs and THG as well, and both have commented on the poor control of the overdrive on the Samsung panels. A friend of mine within the industry as well has tested both side by side and observed the more evenly controlled overdrive on the AU Optronics panel used in the VX922. The Samsung 930BF/940Bf and Hyundai Q90U are still very good, but the poor control of overdrive does lead to some more obvious noise in movie playback, as well as some noticable white halos in some cases around moving objects. It might be slight, but it would be enough to give the VX922 the edge imo. I have not had chance to use all these myself i'm afraid, but this is based on everything i have heard about them all and from experienced reviewers as well. Only my opinion, but the slight edge goes to the VX922 performance wise.

I personally have a Dell 2405FPW. I'm not a gamer really, i use it more for office use / internet and a lot of movies / TV. It suits my needs ideally, but every user has their own requirements :)

edit: and why is the Q90U priced higher normally? No real reason just that some manufacturers price their models differently. Hyundai don't have many models in the market compared with Viewsonic and Samsung for example, it just varies from one to another.
