Just as I was considering switching all my HDDs to a secondary SFF media PC and going SSD only on my main machine...

You are naughty.

Still... I've been spending a fair bit of late. I will resist. For now.

https://overclock3d.net/news/storag...msrps_for_their_970_pro_and_evo_series_ssds/1

straight up conversation makes; (though we all know this isn't the case, specially with UK )

Evo 2TB £590
Evo 1TB £295
Evo 500GB £150
Evo 250GB £82

Hope you get a rebate from samsung @Gibbo

US will be getting nice savings on 1/2TB models... damn!

You need to add vat to the $ to £ price, the OCUK prices are still ~£50 higher than the $msrp converted to £.

You also need to remember that Americans unless they live in a 0 sales tax state have to pay sales tax on top.

"Always faster ..." always hotter?
More seriously, it seems to me that the use of these SSDs at full speed degrades them quickly because of the heat (for the 960 series). So, the 970 may have received better heat management, according to the Samsung release:
"In addition to the advancements in performance levels, the 970 PRO and EVO deliver exceptional endurance and reliability." "A five-year warranty5, or up to 1,200 terabytes written - 50 percent higher than those provided for the previous generation" - the 970 PRO "The Dynamic Thermal Guard technology safeguards against overheating by automatically monitoring and maintaining optimal operating temperatures, while a heat spreader and new nickel-coated controller further lower the SSD temperatures."
