Just set up new B2430H & initial impressions are :D:D:D

Firstly, no dead pixels:)
Looks very modern/stylish

More settings than my old monitor but quickly set at:-
Brightness - 60%
Contrast - 60%
Sharpness - 64
Magicolour - Off
Colour Tone - Normal
Gamma - Mode 2

Quick calibration with W7 tool.
Dropped red/green a tad

Anyone got any tips in setting up this display?

So far, for the money, very impressed indeed.

PS, many thanks to PCM2 for recommending this monitor:)

You got any pics?

Looks pretty much like the one on OCUK;)

Got to say, its a lovely piece of kit for the cost.

I've just had a play with MagicColour but on first appearance, it seems to make everything unnaturally vibrant so for the moment, i'll leave alone.

Just had a quick game of PES2011 & this monitor has transformed the game although it could be the 1080P res that gives a more balanced appearance.

Did notice what I think is slight after trailing on the ball that I never noticed on my 2ms NEC 90GX2 Pro.
Nothing major but there.

As a gamer, how have I managed on a 19" monitor for the last 3 years:confused:
Criminal:)

I'm glad you're happy - I wasn't pushing the recommendation for nothing. :) If you could open a super quick thread on my forums just saying how awesome it is that would be awesome too. I'm sure people are dying to discuss it over there too. :D

Got my B2430H last week and loving it. My settings are as follows iirc;
Brightness - 70%
Contrast - 63%
Sharpness - 60
Magicolour - Off
Colour Tone - Normal
Gamma - Mode 2

So fairly similar set up to Vortical appart from the brightness, my wife did say it was bright when she was using it, but was fine for me. Played about with Magiccolour but decided in the end it was best left turned off. Gamma mode 2was definatley the best option imo.

Hi
Very similar settings.
MagicColour looks great when you run the demo on a nice desktop but in general use, it seems over vibrant and much too warm.
The only challenge i've got now is keeping the kids of Just Cause 2 which looks fab:)

Have noticed that when the monitor turns off at shutdown, the blue display light keeps flashing - is this normal?

Thanks

I think the light flashes on and off when the monitor is on standby. Once you turn it off it shouldn't. Or do you mean it flashes for a bit after you have turned the monitor off before stopping?

I'm not entirely certain:confused:
I have my display set to turn off after 20 mins non use & I noticed it flashing then.
Also, when I shut the PC down, It was also flashing.
Stopped by turning monitor off, but then it doesn't auto start with a PC startup.

I never left it long enough to determine whether or not it maybe flashes for a while & then stops.

Not really an issue but just seems slightly pointless:)

Thanks

Brightness - 55%
Contrast - 65%
Sharpness - 70%
Magicolour - Off
Colour Tone - Normal
Gamma - Mode 2

I dropped Green a little bit on mine.
CCC decided to butcher my settings while plugged in via HDMI so I had to do a fair bit of gamma and contrast tweaking to get the monitor looking as good as it did with DVI.
Also ATI's resetting overscan issue is really annoying :(. Have to manually load a profile every time I boot. My Samsung monitors have always flashed unless you directly turn them off.

My samsung 2433 does just that, it stops flashing after half a minute or so. Possibly a slow power down feature, no issues

Well, just called back at lunch with monitor having been on standby all morning and still flashing.

As stated, not really a problem but abit pointless.
May just turn off to solve, otherwise all good:)

Thanks

Most Samsungs do the same... Big blue flashing light. The FX2490HD has a little but amazing bright red light when it is siwtched on - that is disturbing and goes against the grain. Fortunately it can be switched off very easily by remote or finger ;)

I finally made a decision last night and went with the B2430H. I'm still wondering if I should have spent the extra 10 sheets and got the P2450H, but it's too late now. The tenner will be going towards Fable 3 or Fallout: New Vegas.

It should arrive early next week. I'm wondering will the difference be large enough for me to end up despising my V2420H. I'll just relegate the BenQ to xbox duty if that happens.

Also it will be my first non-LED backlit LCD, how backwards of me.

Got this monitor a couple of weeks back, no dead pixels :), the flashing blue standby light has been driving me up the frigging wall though - I have the monitor in my bedroom and like to put my computer on a shutdown timer with an American TV show when going to bed. But the flashing blue lights up the whole room!

Managed to solve it with 4 pieces of black tape and now I'm very happy :)
