I'd been looking to purchase a BX2450 but recently I came across the BX2431... the only difference I can see is the stand. Is the 2431 the replacement for the 2450? (or vice versa?). Any idea whether this would be a good purchase, there seems to be very little information about it

bump! some advice would be great, I am also considering the LG E2360V which seems quite a bit cheaper

thanks

They are two related series - neither is designed to replace the other. I haven't used the BX31 series but from what I can tell there is no reason to think they use the same panel as the BX2450. The BX35 series I have used don't seem to use the same panels as the BX50 series - from what I could tell in a couple of minutes. I've had a bit of time with the LG E2360V and was quite impressed by it overall. It seems to be a current front-runner at the price - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18237563&highlight=lg+e2360v+username_pcm2.

Thanks PCM2, another concern for me is space so I think I may go for the LG. Seems quite a bit cheaper too

Cannot comment on those specific monitors, but I have had a samsung 22" for 3 years now and very pleased with it. 2 of my friends have also bought later versions of the same monitor and are also very pleased.

Samsun make great monitors, that much I can tell you.

Would you say that the 24" samsung bx2431 is worth the extra £20 over the LG? Has 2ms response time and 1" larger screen..

I wouldn't look too much into the response time, although Samsung do have particularly good algorithms for this (they hide overdrive artifacts well so things look relatively smooth). The extra inch of screen size is nice to have although you were concerned about space?

I am :D Although this one is pretty small/thin too, so not much difference in that sense. I would pay the extra for the samsung if it provides a significantly better picture but there don't seem to be many reviews for either monitor

I will have to apply logical reasoning to skirt around the fact I haven't actually used the BX2431 yet. :D Here I compared the LG to the Samsung XL2370, which is in my opinion one of the finest monitors they've produced. The LG impressed me and in my opinion came close to the XL2370. The BX2450 doesn't offer the same kind of 'pop' to the colours and the contrast is a little weaker - so working off this the LG is likely to be a stronger monitor than the BX2431. ;)

Any more thoughts about the LG E2360V? I was originally looking at the XL2370 as one of my monitor choices, but this one looks equally as good.

I can't find any reviews about it. Would be nice to hear more detailed thoughts if you had the time to look into it in more detail.
Thanks.

Unfortauntely it was just lying about near some office-type computers so I can't say any more than I have about it. LG have been unable to provide a review sample so I wasn't able to test it thoroughly.

I've ordered one, have no idea how to perform extensive monitor tests but I can give you my impressions/pictures etc once it arrives :)

My LG came today. Very impressed with it, colors pop out very well. Played a few hours of black ops and it handles motion superbly. Viewing angles are pretty good for a TN panel, the screen does darken a bit if you put your head way to the side but it's a lot better than the viewing angles of the BENQ TN panel I used to own. EXTREMELY thin also, may get another one if I have the space :) will post some pics later
