Hey guys,

Does anyone know what the current Samsung Dead Pixel policy is? I read a while back that they had a zero pixel policy – that was a couple of years ago though?

I discovered today that my 226BW (A-panel) has a grey pixel stuck in the near dead centre of the screen – it looks awful on white backgrounds! I thought it was dust at first but I tried cleaning it with the provided cloth and it is definitely a problem with the panel.

I’m prepared that if they do agree a replacement I shall probably end up with a reconditioned C-panel, although I think it’s a bit unfair, I’m prepared to take that chance – visual quality is the most important thing for me!

I can’t take it back to the purple place that I bought it from, because it’s over 30 days old, and after that they want you to deal with the manufacturer? Fair enough I suppose.

Has anyone here had experience of Samsung’s RMA procedure – especially with their monitor returns? I few years back I had to return a couple of SATA drives because they had developed bad sectors and the Samsung support was excellent. I think the whole issue was resolved in about 4 days :)

Cheers,

SW.

I got this from the user manual of my Samsung 931bw:

"Dot Acceptable
TFT LCD panel manufactured by using advanced semiconductor technology with precision of 1 ppm
(one millionth)
above is used for this product. But the pixels of RED, GREEN, BLUE and WHITE color
seem to be bright sometimes or some of black pixels could be seen. This is not from bad quality and
you can use it without uneasiness.

For example, the number of TFT LCD sub pixels that is contained in this product are 3,888,000."

I took that to mean that in my case, unless I had 4 or more dead pixels, that I would have no case for getting a replacement.

edit - I guess with the higher resolution of yours that you would need 6 or more to be outside their 1 ppm standard.
