So my trusty S2 has more and more frequently been crashing and on reboot goes from 60% to 1%.

It's over two years old. Will probably buy a moto g to replace but wondering how safe the bulging battery is. According to the interweb it's leaving it charging that causes this.

I'd honestly stop using it right now. Bulging batteries are dangerous and you need to replace it asap.

If you can get a cheap replacement battery then i would do that personally.

Unless you can get an official one cheap I don't really reccomend it, though decent brand batteries can be a tad expensive - the Anker one is ~£12 which is a little high for an older phone now but worth every penny IMO.

Cheap ones can be almost if not more dangerous than a bulging battery :S (Would not continue using one myself - quick search on youtube will show you why).
