Samsung Galaxy Tab ... Android 2.2 Tablet

if this comes out on voda by the end of the year il probs get it if its decently priced and on an ok contract - my data plan is about 3 months till out of contract

Archos 10" + Froyo + 1ghz Cortex A8 (possibly OMAP SoC since the guy says 45nm and mentions TI) + front facing camera + HDMI out = 249EUR (half the price of 16GB wifi iPad) and 480g

Looks fast for a pre production model. This is probably the most promising tablet from IFA Berlin.

Those prices must be wrong for the Galaxy Tab, they aren't going to sell many of these at all if they are over £600, or even £400 to be honest.

£700? Have a day off. :p

Thanks for posting this, looks great. Great if the price is correct. Hope the battery life is decent.

I won't be surprised if that's the price because Samsung have also released(or going to) a Galaxy PMP that obviously resembles the Galaxy phone running on Android but minus all the phone stuff. The Ipod Touch is cheaper than the Galaxy PMP !

The only thing with all the tablets/slates at IFA is that there were dozens at CES at the beginning of the year, all ready for imminent release, only one or two of those have actually come out yet... So take any tablet you see there with a pinch of salt (although the Archos' are definate).

Wow it is looking promising, those tow and the folio. If only Samsung had released a 10 inch version with 3G now, would be snapping it up before Christmas.

Most of them are waiting for gingerbread and the A9 cortex to become widely avalible.

Oh Samsung, why did you not make in 10" :(

Won't be selling the iPad for the galaxy tab, but still keeping my eye open, hopefully by the end of the year we will have a good choice (with larger screens) and then ill sell the iPad and say hello android tablet!

I have an iPad and NOT interested in the Samsung. But not because it's Android (I prefer Android to iOS)

BUT i want a bigger screen, just look at the size difference in the OP. Ill be waiting for a nice 10" Android tablet, then bye bye iPad.

Yep agreed. If the Tab was 10" and around £500 I'd get one tomorrow if they were out. 7" isn't that vastly different to my 4" phone so not really that interested. Android is a lot more flexible than iOS which is what I want, but the iPad has the bigger screen. Surely someone will marry the two together in a nice looking package?!!!

To be honest, if the iPad supported flash and you could plug it into any machine like the Samsung Galaxy S does and it shows up as a USB device for copying stuff to it, I'd get an ipad. Those are the only two things stopping me really as I hate itunes

Well 7" vs 4" is actually a 3:1 ratio in real estate.

It's the resolution which matters more anyway and its not too far below the iPad (has 28% more pixels).

I think that Samsung had a difficult problem re: android market support. Any device wishing to connect to android market has to function like a phone. I'm guessing a 10" phone is a bit difficult to hold and thus this first attempt. Also gingerbread brings a whole new slant on the issue...

We should be glad that the European mobile carriers aren't able to operate a cartel as efficiently as the US carriers can. There they have managed to convince Samsung that they have to remove the voice functions or else they won't stock the Tab. One of them has apparently even removed the wifi functionality so you are held captive to their expensive mobile data plans.
